Chimney Inspection New Jersey

Chimney Inspection New Jersey

Everest Chimney technicians are certified from the Chimney Safety Institute of America to perform chimney inspections. Video scanning are used to thoroughly examine and document findings of conditions within the chimney. These systems are used to check the flue liners for damage and to check flue liners joints for deterioration. Scanning allows the technician to document findings and capture images to present to the costumer or insurance company.

The primary reason creosote must be removed from chimney systems is to reduce the possibility of fires. Chimney fires are the burning of soot and creosote accumulations inside a connector or chimney. Chimney fires usually begin when flames or high temperatures from an extremely hot fire ignite the combustible deposits.

When you receive your chimney inspection as part of your comprehensive Everest Chimney  home inspection, you will also receive detailed color reports with pictures about the inspection´s findings.

Inspection for New Home Buyers in New Jersey

Inspection for New Home Buyers in New Jersey

According to U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (USCPSC) (http://www.cpsc.gov/library/fire07.pdf), there are 26000 residential fires and 20 deaths per year related to chimneys. In addition, there are $6.4 Billion in residential structure fire property losses per year.

It is imperative that prior to moving to their new home, general buying public insures that their chimneys are SAFE. Home inspectors (according to American Society of Home Inspectors – ASHI) are NOT required to inspect interior flues of chimneys. Home inspectors disclaim the internal elements of the chimney for the simple fact that it is inaccessible and cannot be viewed during a routine VISUAL HOME INSPECTION. Since they cannot see it, it falls outside the scope of their inspection.

Level 1 Inspection New Jersey

A level I inspection is required for verification of suitability of the chimney for continued service, under the same condition and with the same appliance or appliances. Unless otherwise stated, a Level I inspection is limited to accessible areas of the chimney, structure and flue. A level II inspection I more detailed and thorough than a Level I inspection and is the recommended inspection when conditions of use for the appliance or venting system are changing, or when a Level I inspection reveals the need for a more detailed inspection. Level II inspections include inspection from the roof basement and crawl spaces if they are accessible. Everest Chimney New Jersey will evaluate the condition of the flue and connector and give a detailed report with pictures and a proposal for the necessary interventions. This will last approximately 30-45 min.
